Okay, so I'm mad. « Thread Started on Jul 22, 2005, 8:24pm »
And seeing that this is here, I'll vent.
The other night, my best friends daughter was raped.
My friend was in bed, she'd been reading until 1.30am, waiting for her daughter to get home, fell asleep and at 2.20am heard someone falling over some crates outside her house. So, because she'd locked the door, she went outside to see if it was her daughter and found a guy standing out there. She asked him who he was and what he was doing, and then she heard someone groan.
She looked around and found her 18 year old daughter laying on the ground in the foetal position, with her jeans around her knees. She punched the guy in the side of his head and he took off. So she grabbed her daughter, who was so out of it she had to carry her physically inside. The girl was vomitting all over herself, couldn't stand, couldn't walk, couldn't even talk.
So my friend tried the next day to get information out of her. Her daughter doesn't know what happened. The girl she went out with says she put her in a taxi at 1.30am and told the taxi driver to take her home. This girl says they didn't have that much to drink, because they had no money, but that she can't remember how she herself got home. The taxi driver says he picked my friends daughter and her "boyfriend" up from a completely different place and brought them home. My friends daughter has no recollection of anyone being in the taxi with her, or of being in this other place where the taxi driver says he picked her up.
The stories don't gel, nothing about it makes any sense...and I'm just really really angry. *sigh* I know what this is like, I know how people get into these situations. But the poor girl is adament nothing happened. I don't think she wants to believe. She doesn't want to press charges..she says she wasn't raped..but the condom was found..and I understand so well why she doesn't want to believe it happened. I wish she'd press charges, but again..I know why she isn't. I didn't either...
I just wanted to get this out. And to let anyone else out there know that it's okay. It's not your fault, you don't have to feel that you're to blame. Please, please please don't let men get away with this sort of thing. You might be their victim, but you have the opportunity to make sure that you'll be their last.

Nods, I know what its like to be raped, except when I got raped it was treated as statutory rape cause i was only 14 but its still the same thing,, You feel dirty all over and you just want to remove all the shit and pretend it didn't happen.
I'm not an expert or anything but it sounds like someone slipped her some HGB or otherwise known as the Date rape drug

-just shivers and offers you both hugs-
Keep me updated on your friend's daughter hun. It does sound like she was slipped something though. She might have more than she realized but I can't see her getting smashed out of her wits if she never had a lot of money...-shudders-

They just drank at home, I think they had one or two at the bar they went too, then all of them completely lost track of where they were. The stories don't add up at all, it's just crazy. She's okay as far as I can tell, she just wants to forget it and move on, which I fully understand, but all the stuff that has happened because of it is just crazy. I watched a tv documentary on date rape drugs the other night, and the experiences people had were exactly like my friend's daughters. They just blank out...it's such a frightening thought. She refuses to prosecute though, so he gets away with it. *sigh* I'm passed being angry now, I'm just really sad and disappointed, but a huge part of me fully understands where she's coming from.

I watch Law & Order: SVU, and they had a few episodes on about the date rape drug...its normal for them to black out and not remember what happened and they usually won't prosecute cause they either think they deserved what they got or they don't want to be constantly questioned about something they can't remember so it leads right back to "they made it all up" which isn't the case at all. So like I said her reaction is normal
